= SAGITTAL POSTSCRIPT FONT =

To install the `Sagittal' PostScript Type 1 font, you need to have on
your system a properly installed version of ghostscript, available
from:

	http://www.cs.wisc.edu/%7Eghost/index.html
	ftp://mirror.cs.wisc.edu/pub/mirrors/ghost/GPL/current/

= HOW TO INSTALL THE FONT =

1. Move the files

	Sagittal.pfb
	Sagittal.afm

to the ghostscript font folder. It can be, for example:

	/usr/share/fonts/type1/gsfonts/

or maybe (change `8.50' for the gs version as needed):

	/usr/share/gs-gpl/8.50/Resource/Font/

2. Locate and edit the file named `Fontmap.GS' (which may be stored as
/usr/share/gs-gpl/8.50/lib/Fontmap.GS) and add a line like this to
   it:

	/Sagittal (/usr/share/gs-gpl/8.50/Resource/Font/Sagittal.pfb) ;

Use the same path where you have saved the files `Sagittal.pfb' and
`Sagittal.afm'. Also please note that blank spaces after
`/Sagittal' and before ';' are relevant.

NOTE: In my current installation of GPL Ghostscript 8.54
(2006-05-17) on Debian GNU/Linux (Etch), the file to edit is:

    /var/lib/defoma/gs.d/dirs/fonts/Fontmap

= SAGITTAL ABCM2PS FORMAT FILE =

The file `sagittal.fmt' provided with microabc contains an embedded
PostScript Type 3 font (this file is the same as `sagittal-2.fmt'). To
use the installed Type 1 font in your ABC files instead, replace
`sagittal.fmt' with `sagittal-pfb.fmt'. Type 1 fonts are superior in
quality than Type 3 fonts. But be aware: when you distribute
PostScript files using the installed Type 1 font, the recipient should
have the same font installed to see the document. You can
alternativelly convert the PostScript file to a PDF file, with the
font embedded, and distribute the PDF file. (Moreover, Sagittal will
load much faster in PDF.)
