Character Analysis
Jim- Jim is Widow Douglas�s slave. He works for her and Mrs. Watson. Jim�s goals for in this section is to be able to become free by traveling north to the free states. THe obstacles he encounters is trying to get there without getting caught by anyone. If he were to get caught he would get sent back to Widow Douglas and could possibly be killed. Jim thinks that he will become a free slave and be able to get his family.

Judge Thatcher- This character is a good friend of Huck. He takes care of his money in the bank. One day Huck sold him all of his money for a dollar. The only thing he hopes to achieve is to make Huck happy so he accepts to take the money. The way he does this is by taking the money but making it seem like Huck sold it to him for a Dollar. He thinks the end results will be fine.

Tome Sawyer- Tom is Hucks best friend. They do everything together. Things like work out challenges, start clubs and get into trouble. He doesn�t really want to achieve anything in this section except for maybe get away from Aunt Polly. He doesn�t have an expectations for this because he doesn�t think it will happen.

Pap Finn- He is Hucks dad that doesn�t treat him very well. He is a drunk the beats on Huck when they are around each other. All Pap wants is Hucks money so he can go blow it on himself and alcohol. He also doesn�t want Huck to get and education because Huck shouldn�t be smarter then him.  They way he plans on getting the money is by taking from Huck and leaving. He also to Huck away from Widow Douglas so he doesn�t get an education and become smarter then him. Pap wont be able to get the money because Huck sold it to Judge Thatcher.
Huck Finn- is one of the protagonists of the novel. 
He is a young boy who was adopted by the Widow Douglas.  Huck is a free
spirit, he is very strong willed and stubborn. He wants to be free and
be able to do what he wants and not be hindered by the trappings of
life.  Huck sees not tangible benefit to being clean or civilized.  He
just wants to be himself.  Huck doesn�t want to a slave to society and
soap.   When Huck feels hindered of tied down he runs away to escape the
social chains. 
Widow Douglas- was the woman that adopts Huck.  Her goal is to civilize
Huck.  She wants him to be a perfect gentleman and to dress in fine and
clean clothes and be well groomed.  Widow Douglas wants Huck to behave
like a rich socialite, and behave with dignity and strength.  Her goal
is to make Huck a good man.  This is a noble but ultimately futile
goal.  
Miss Watson- is Widow Douglas�s sister.  She is crusading to make Huck
more religious.  She constantly commands Huck in every aspect of his
life.  She wants him to start praying, but it is not successful because
praying clashes with Huck�s strong belief in the tangible.  She urges
him to believe more in God so he can go to Heaven when he passes on. 
Miss Watson�s beliefs and visions for Huck don�t influence because he does
not believe in God, praying, or a Heaven.
