| Remember when selecting your wardrobe that this production takes place during December in a small town. Nothing fancy but nice. Please scroll all the way to the bottom! KIDS (except Herdmans): For ACT I, you are dressed in everyday clothes like you would wear to school. Jeans and t-shirts are good, but no writing or insignia (symbols) on the shirts, please. Christmas designs are ok, but no advertisements. Wear tennis shoes/sneakers. GIRLS: For ACT II, dress like you are in a presentation at church (because you are!) but not too flashy. Skirts/dresses are preferable, but if you don't have that...dress pants are good with a nice blouse. Hair bows are a nice touch especially if you are taller or a little older (makes you look younger) and hair needs to be off your face. Wear dress shoes or nice ballet/jazz shoes...something with a soft sole (white tights and "Mary Janes" would be adorable!) Please no sequins or sparkle and no high heeled shoes. Mrs. Armstrong warns Mrs. Bradley against this in the play. NO DENIM. Angel choir robes, wings and halos will be provided by HFAC. BOYS: For ACT II, wear slacks (dress pants) and a nice shirt that buttons down the front or a sweater. Hair needs to be "tamed"...slicked, parted and combed or whatever looks best. Dress shoes, loafers or soft-soled jazz shoes (yes, they make those for boys). NO DENIM. Bring a bathrobe from home (or borrow one) for your shepherd "costume". Hobie needs a pink one. Shepherds crooks will be provided by Mrs. Weaver. Remember, the Christmas pageant is a big event in their lives and in the lives of the townspeople. They don't have HFAC in their community like we do! It is a big deal, so they want to look their best. HERDMANS: Dingy, unmatched "hand-me-down" clothes...outdated and ill-fitting. Hats, sweatpants, hiking boots (if you can walk without too much noise) dirty tennis shoes, etc. Feel free to embellish with grungy patches or duct tape. If you must shop, try Goodwill, Salvation Army or an Assitance Ministry thrift store. Pageant costumes will be provided by HFAC. ADULT WOMEN: For ACT I, Casual "mom" clothes with a Christmas flare. Slacks, khakis, Christmas sweaters/vests, etc. ACT II: Dressier Christmas "church" clothes, preferably dresses/skirts w/hose, but no sparkle or sequins. High-heels or character shoes are ok, if they are quiet. Mrs. Bradley needs two casual tops for ACT I. Mr. Bradley: For ACT I, khakis with casual or Polo-style shirt. ACT II, slacks & sport coat or suit w/Christmas tie. Loafers/dress shoes Reverend Hopkins: For ACT I, slacks, dress shirt/dress t-shirt with sport coat or same as Mr. Bradley. ACT II, minister's robe over ACT I clothes. Loafers/dress shoes. Firefighters: Costumes will be provided by HFAC. If you have boots (rubber boots or hiking boots) that would be great! EVERYONE: Check with cast/crew before making a purchase. We can create some great costumes and keep cost to a minimum if we network and communicate! Please contact Loleda Kreitz with questions and for costume approval. Wardrobe selections are due for approval on OCTOBER 27th!! |
