Battle was born in the bluegrass of Kentucky. There, he was destined to become a great racehorse. However, he unexpectedly grew to a long 17 hands, making him ungangly and awkward. This, compiled with the fact that he did not have to drive to race, made his owners put him up for sale. |

It was at a racetrack in southern California that his current owner, Bonnie Graboyes, found him. She saw beyond what the track didn't like in him, and fell in love. She assured his current trainer that he was going to a wondeful home, where every one of his needs, and then some, would be taken care of. And she wasn't kidding: he lives better than most humans! |

They tried their hand at jumping, which he had no particular talent for, and then found their calling at dressage. They trained hard, and did well, but ended up retiring from the sport after a feud with the trainer. Battle didn't like his mouth being held completely closed by the noseband. |

Battle has an extremely laid back personality. As a three year-old, a child of only five could ride him around bareback, at a show, with no problems what-so-ever. He is very friendly and eats up any attention he can get. This wonderful temperament is passed on to a large percentage of his foals, who are growing up to be wonderful companions and competitors. |

So, now he lives out his days in southern California as a stud, going on the occasional trail ride, and competing in halter from time to time. |
