I drew this during the orientation session for volunteer workers for the FIS Snowboard World Cup 2005 in Hoengsoeng, where my school is. I was getting bored, so on the back on the info sheets we were given, I started drawing with the pen they gave me. For some reason, despite the fact that I cannot draw to save my life, I wanted to do an Oriental style drawing. The first one was a failure. The second one, which you see here, turned out to be the best piece of art I've ever produced in my life (yes, this really is the best I can come up with).
It's a pine tree, a theme very often used in traditional Korean art. It's bent, something you don't see very often in traditional Korean art. It wasn't intended to be, but my friend Won-Joon drew a line across it while I was drawing and to cover it up, I ended up drawing a bent tree. It looks like a question mark, and for that I like it. It's rather like my life.
