| Wednesday, May 19, Yom Yerushalayim, began for some members of the group with an ascent to the Temple Mount under the guidance of Rabbi Chaim Richman, head of the Temple Institute of Jerusalem. Rabbi Richman's organization is dedicated to reclaiming this most holy of Jewish sites, which is currently under the control of the Arabs. After a period of several years in which non-Muslims were prevented from even visiting the Temple Mount, the holiest place in the world may once again be visited. Rabbi Richman took us on a fascinating tour of this huge area (larger than over 20 football fields), where the Holy Temple once stood. Shown here is the Dome of the Rock, a Muslim site that is situtated on the Temple Mount. Jews are forbidden to enter this site, because it is thought that the Holy of Holies, part of the ancient Jewish Temple, was located where the Dome of the Rock now sits. |
