Here we were on what we considered day 2. We drove 33 hours all the way into, and around the keys before stopping for the night at a houseboat in Marathon, and there we were in the parking lot packing back up to head off again for another day's adventure. During the drive we encountered the large branches of a tree in the road while in New York. We found out at that point that the car we were driving didn't have anti-lock breaks. Luckily there were only a couple scratches on the car. We were almost all the way to Key West when we got a speeding ticket. Damn those endangered flying deer that jump out of the ocean!
On the left is a picture taken later that same day while we were in Key West at the Southernmost Point, closer to Cuba than Miami. Matt decided that he wanted to climb on top of the marker, and he almost regretted it when he had to get back down. Let's just say that Key West was an interesting place and leave it at that. The Jimmy Buffett shop was really cool though. On the right is a picture of Matt and Lary the next day in Miami Beach, proof that at least someone went swimming while we were in Florida. Us girls weren't about to go swimming in the rain, well maybe we would have if it was warmer out. We went all the way to Florida and the weather sucked!

The next day we headed off to Tampa, making a detour to the everglades first. There wasn't much to see on the way down, except for a bird that didn't want to stop making weird noises while we were eating, but on the way back we stopped at a couple of the viewing areas and saw pink flamingos from afar, and this alligator up close. Matt even touched it. I'm glad he did, so I didn't have to. And of course we couldn't go to Florida without seeing palm trees. I wanted to take one back with me.
On the left we are standing in front of Stone Mountain, just outside of Atlanta Georgia. On the right, we're standing in a Krispy Kreme, the only one we saw while we were down south (before they popped up all over here). We continued our trek, stopping in Virginia the night we left Georgia, taking a quick tour of DC the next morning, and heading back in the direction of Worcester, stopping for a movie in Pennsylvania first. I want to go back!
