Perfect weather- CHECK!

I really needed a day like this. Some time just to lay back and relax after the drama of the last two weeks. I called everyone back except Brian, yes, even Nick.
Well, maybe just his voicemail, but I
did do it.
I even got Jess out of my hair about everything. I love her, but there comes a point when the questioning becomes a bit repetitive.

"Laney, is that you hiding behind those dreadful sunglasses?"

Surprise, surprise-it's Jess.
But, wait just a minute, just because they're bright blue and I got them from a gas station stop doesn't make them
dreadful.

"Yes, it's me and
NO, these are not dreadful glasses-I just have a unique taste in sunglasses you refuse to recognize."

"Riiiiigggghhhhtttt."

What?

"Are you out there avoiding the real world again?"

"What makes you think that?

What? I can't enjoy a day in the sun without being depressed and overwrought all the time?

"I'm just relaxing a bit before I start working again on my article."

"Well did you at least call Brian back? I know you are avoiding that one. I thought you'd at least call him before you called
Nick. But I guess even I can be wrong sometimes"

What was that suppose to mean? That I'm incapable of calling Nick?
Oh wait, I guess I was, wasn't I?
I don't know, I just felt weird calling Brian. He's not what Kevin is to me. Kevin has always been that fatherly-type figure for me, whereas Brian was always the friend......shouldn't it of been easier to talk to Brian then?

"I dunno, Jess. I just felt weird about calling and complaining about my lacking love life when he is still going through his divorce from Leigh, ya know? Just didn't seem right."

I always did get along with him best. I just never got to know Howie very well. We were only a little more than aquaintances and A.J and me got along just fine, but never took it past the social gatherings kind of thing to talk to one another.

"If he didn't want to talk to you, he wouldn't of called three times last week. He's worried just like everyone else was. They all loved you Laney. You were part of that family for awhile, ya know?"

"Yeah yeah yeah. I know. I will call him later."

I promise I will......eventually.

"Laney."

"What?"

Didn't she hear me? I said I would.......later....

"Not later- today. Stop being a stubborn ass and call. Here."

Where did she get that phone. It wasn't just with her a second ago. Tricky girl that Jess is.

"Fine. But if he's not there, he has to call
me back."

"Whatever, just do it. He's my friend too....k?Anyways, I'm going inside to change and go back to work. Be home later."
