The Stars
Christina Cole stars in Season One as Cassie Hughes, a young student at Medenham. After discoverring the Canari, a voodoo artifact, Cassie awakened her latent powers, inherited from her father's side of the family, the McBain witches, of whom Cassie is the latest in line. Throughout the first series, Cassie falls in loves with fallen angel Azazeal, and ends up unwittingly giving him the son he's always wanted, only to die protecting said son, early in Season Two.

In the real world, Christina Cole only has a handful of credits to her name, including a small role in chick-flick
What A Girl Wants, and British dramas, He Knew He Was Right, Miss Marple, and Julian Fellows Investigates, among other things!

The star of the series however, is Jemima Rooper as lesbian ghost Thelma Bates. Fiercely loyal, and pretty much sexually obsessed with her best friend Cassie, Thelma ends up being sacrificed by fallen angel Azazeal, only to return as a ghost to aid Cassie throughout her adventures. When Ella Dee arrives on the scene (see below), she is also able to see Thelma, and the adventures continue...Jemima Rooper, it seems, has been in the business, best known for her roles as George in the 90's TV incarnation of Enid Blyton's Famous Five, and of course Nicki in Channel 4 drama As If, from the makers of Hex (and Sugar Rush), as well as roles in Urban Gothic and Midsomer Murders among other series.

Completeing the trio of Season One's stars is Michael Fassbender as fallen angel Azazeal. With his long running obsession with the McBain witches, Cassie is his latest...um, victim. You could argue he really loves Cassie, or he's just using her to get the son he desperately wants... there's evidence for either interpretation, so that's more or less up to the viewer. Michael Fassbender has never really had any high profile roles, but he has featured in HBO drama
Band of Brothers, as well as British dramas Gunpowder, Treason and Plot, Trial and Retribution, and Poirot...among others of course!

New girl Laura Pyper stars as Ella Dee in Season Two, latest in the line of Annointed Ones, descended from the prophet Orakiah, who has come to Medenham to kill Cassie demonic child Malachi, and ends up killing Cassie in the process. Over five-hundred years old, Ella enrols as a student at Medenham, joining Cassie an Thelma's quest to save the world from the fallen angels... relative newcomer Laura Pyper has of course guest starred in
Holby City, as well as featuring in the "I don't know British geography" dragon film, Reign Of Fire, along with a couple of other credits.
