| Episode Guide: Episode Two First Aired: 25th September 2005 Written by: Peter Tabern Directed by: Brian Grant Thelma Bates: Jemima Rooper Cassie Hughes: Christina Cole Azazeal: Michael Fassbender Jo Watkins: Anna Wilson-Jones David Tyrel: Colin Salmon Leon Taylor: Jamie Davis Roxanne: Amber Sainsbury Ella Dee: Laura Pyper Jez Herriot: Sam Troughton George: Colis Proctor Tom: Samuel Collings Alex: Jemima Abey As Hex's second season rages on, we now have a very interesting new dynamic. Last week, new girl Ella saved Cassie's life, proved to us she can see Thelma, and decided what the world needs is to kill Cassie's demon child Malachi. This week she gets a special delivery of all sorts of odd weapons, including our new sorce of exposition...The Vision of Orokiah, everything you could possibly want to know about Ella ("The Annointed One"), Cassie, ("Azazeal's Whore"), and the fallen angels, including handy instructions for ritually sacrificing demonic infants. "The gates of chaos shall be made fast, and poor old Thelma shall dissapear." With Ella firmly established as one of our new leads, we finally get to see Thelma shine without Cassie. In series one, if Thelma had anything important to do, she either had to be talking to herself (before Peggy came along), or be with Cassie. Now Thelma and Ella can be advancing the plot, while Cassie hangs out with Azazeal and Malachi...who can also both see Thelma btw, it seems anyone of consequence to the plot is fully aware of her... As I suggested last week, there's now more room for Leon and Roxanne to have bigger roles, and this week Roxanne gets her chance, as new teacher/priest/servant of the fallen angels Jez Herriot, grandson of the second Doctor I beleive, no less, turns up in town, and ends up in Roxanne's sights. Troy and Gemma have been replaced by new membwers of the gang, Tom and Alex, but I like the fact there is no pretence at making them important characters. In series one, all "the gang" appeared in the opening credits and all the publicity, as if they were all main characters, but with the 3exception of Troy, they got maybe one important scene each in the course of the series. Tom and Alex are just extras to flesh out the gang, while Roxanne and Leon are really now characters in their own right. So baby Malachi is captured, the ritual is all set up, when possibly the most unexpected twist occurs. Cassie (not so surprisingly) decides she can't go throw with it, but in the shock twist, lunger at Ella and ends up receiving the blade herself, therefore being despeatched body and soul into darkness, and leaving us one lead star down! Cassie is no more, and we've still lot eleven episodes left to go!!! Back To: Hexed Up Home StrangeOnline Home |
