Well there you have it, the final episode of Hex, for now. Luckily, unlike the ending of Strange, a second series has already been confirmed, and was in fact announced at the end of the episode, which made the cliff-hanger slightly more bearable. As this episode takes place during the school Christmas holidays, the cast is much reduced, leaving David Tyrel, Roxanne, Leon and Gemma absent from this episode, and Troy only has a brief appearance. Its a shame really, I hope we get more development of these other characters next season.

The episode kicked off with a recap as usual, then into some heavy flirting between Thelma and fellow lesbian ghost Peggy, down on your knees girl and scrub my floor! This scene also sets up some big stuff, You and me are living proof really, Peggy points out, hes upset the natural order. The ancient texts point that everything was centred on the birth of Heraphs child (Im gonna have to cover this a bit more in the demonology section), and even though Cassie is no longer possessed, things are clearly not as they should be, as ghosts are still walking with men...

The next morning Thelma finds Cassie puking in the toilet. When it happens again the following morning, Thelma comes to the conclusion that the young McBain is pregnant. Oops! is all she can say to that before the commercial break! After the break she reveals that she was a naughty girl and didnt use protection with Azazeal...but it was only a couple of days ago, she cant be pregnant yet, can she? Im a ghost, youre a witch and hes a fallen angel, Thelma concludes, Anythings possible! Nice teacher Jo Watkins wants to call a Doctor when she finds out Cassie is ill...so she has to tell her, and although shes not happy, shes pleased to hear its not Leons! Now wouldnt that be fun! When Cassie awakes from a dream...images of Azazeal in his demonic form, and a baby crying, he is there, bringing her ginger tea and comforting her...shes special to him now that shes fathering his all-important child.

The baby is growing far too quickly, and next morning while waiting for a taxi to take her to the Doctors, Troy turns up to talk to Cassie, wanting to get back together, and realises shes pregnant. He doesnt believe her when she tries to tell him its not his. The Doctor is not happy about Cassies request for a termination...he says from the scan the baby appears 20 weeks old (even though we know its not), which is close to the legal limit (which is 24 weeks if I remember my GCSE RE lessons correctly!) and tries to talk her out of it. That evening we see Jo and Azazeal arrive back at Medenham in a taxi...she leads him into her room...hmmm! Peggy discovers an ancient Egyptians prayer of deliverance for a type of soul-possessing demon...it all centres, as she found earlier, on Heraphs child. If the child is born, then all 200 demons (which Thelma connects to the Nephelim) will be released. If the baby dies, the world is safe, and natural order will be restored, meaning that Thelma would no longer be able to be with Cassie.

After the final commercial break of the series, Cassie goes to see Jo to find Azazeal, or Ian still with her. After an awkward few moments, she leaves. Im up the duff and youre shagging my teacher! The baby is growing rapidly, and Thelma has some very touching emotional moments...shes willing to sacrifice herself for the greater good, and doesnt plan on telling Cassie anything about it. Its not until later when Cassie is having second thoughts about the abortion, that Thelma tells her the partial truth, that the birth of the baby will release the Nephelim. She still leaves out the part about her vanishing tho. Azazeal follows the abortion doctor to a church, where in a discussion about Mary and the baby Jesus, he gives a very interesting pro-life speech...drawing comparisons between his own son and the son of God, but ultimately having a profound affect on the Doctor. Cassie is wheeled in for her termination while Thelma watches supportively. Sitting beside Cassies empty bed...Thelma fades out!! But then Cassie fades in, so were left wondering whether that was Thelma ceasing to be, or whether its just the style of the cinematography. And sure enough, who pulls back the curtain but Thelma!! Whats going on?? Well amid dramatic music, we cut to Azazeal and the Doctor, watching over the small baby, hooked up to any number of machines...You did a very brave thing, Azazeal tells the Doctor, I have a feeling God isnt going to forget this. Too right! Roll on series two!!!!
