Biography
Faith Hewitt
Interior Design Student/ Studio Artist

I was born in Great Bend Kansas and lived there until I was five years old where my family then moved to Meade Kansas and have been there ever since. Meade Kansas has been a great little town to grow up in it has the great atmoshere that only a little town has.
I think I was five or six when I realised that I wasn't just doodling to pass the time, but because I liked it and I was actually good at it. One thing that I that I always loved drawing were floor plan, drawing the same one multiple times until I got it just the way I wanted it. As a kid I loved making houses out of boxes that were in abundance in our basement. I would put furniture in, make carpets out of left over material, and even paint the walls. I think I always knew that I would someday end up either building someones house or design things to go into them. I did play with mud and tried to make pots and other sculptures but didn't gain that talent until much later on in life. Painting and drawing always came easy to me but as I grew older I lost some interest in those mediums and found them more difficult to work in..
The artists that inspire me the most are mostly painters. They just seem to have it right, the way they look at color, apply paint, to the moods and emotions that they somehow make you feel. Rembrandt is brillant with light and the contrast it brings against the darkness. Monet with his paint pallet and strokes, so much emotion in his work. Degas, with the movement and emotion that he puts into the dancers that he draws. Theses artists have inspired the creative way I think and see the world of art.
One other artist that has inspired me is Frank Lloyd Wright in the way that he has combined nature with metal and other man-made materials to create his wonderful architecture and accessories. I see this in my contemporary designed furniture and modern spaces, but it also has me thinking in a more simplistic manner.
Some other people that have inspired me are my parents. My mother becasue she is the one person that I share the most with artisticly, she is extremely artisticly talented. My father on the other hand inspires me to be all that I am and be all I am to the best of my ability. He is one person that I know that gives 100 percent to everything he does, and he pushes me to do that in my art. He's my hero.
I graduated from Meade High School with 28 other students. From there I was bound and determined to go to school for Art Education and take my mothers place as a teacher in my high school. But that quickly changed and I am now majoring in Interior Design with an emphases in Ceramics at
Fort Hays State University, I plan on graduating in May of 2007 with a
Bachelors of Fine Arts Degree. While I have been here I have enjoyed many of my studio courses most of all ceramics. In taking ceramics  have attend three workshops with Nan Smith, Ann Pargo and Donna Rozman three very different ceramis artists with a wonderful respect and imagination in clay. In the Fall semester of my senior year I desided to go to S.O.F.A (Sculpture Objects and Functional Art) with the eight other ceramic students to expand my knowlege on processes and ideas for making and showing ceramic art or art in general..
My site shows my work. Ceramics as of now and  interior design work.
