    Anti-Bullying Coaching
Support for  individuals, groups and institution
Dr Paul Heslin has been involved in anti-bullying support  work since 1996.
His work as a medical doctor for twenty years, a Narrative*  and Systemic family
therapist for six years and a life-coach for one year means that Paul has a lot of
experience in the area of bullying at work, at home and  at school.
Paul has given talks in Sligo, Cavan, Dublin, Portlaoise,  Greystones and Sydney on this topic, has been on midlands radio and written in  the medical press on bullying. He has attended international conferences in  Australia on bullying and been in contact with many of the groups interested in  this subject in Ireland, Britain and Australia. Dr. Heslin has given a four week  certificate course on bullying to teachers in the midlands. He plans more of  these events for groups and organizations.
Paul's relative success in bullying is attributed to his  belief that bullying is both a health and a human rights issue. He believes  that communities must work together to promote community values rather than  expecting targets to deal with this alone. He believes that all teams are more  effective and dynamic when anti-bullying principles are included.
He believes that targets of bullying need to be heard and their experience of unfairness acknowledged at different levels. Appropriate steps need to be taken by the victim and on behalf of the target of bullying to ensure safety and health. Sometimes these steps are unique to the values,  strengths and vulnerabilities of both the target and the surrounding teams of  support.
Paul's successes with targets have included:
"You seem to understand what I am going through, as if you have experienced it."
"I got validation through the courts but not a huge settlement. It is a relief."
"You helped me understand why some others had difficulty  supporting me."
"Some unexpected people were supporting me and I did not  even see it."
"Listening to you and my mother speak made me understand  that the bullying was not  about me, so I got on with my education"
"I began to see that I was not a victim but a brave and ethical person who refused  to be part of their bullying culture. This connects with my membership of Amnesty International. Now I have an awareness and empathy for human rights abuses."
"Paul, as an adult at work, I did not even know that  bullying was the cause of my stress until we  spoke together. With that awareness, I knew exactly what to do. Thank you"
