My Iguanas
Sorry no pics yet

Currently I have 4 green iguanas, 2 males and 2 females. All were rescues except my big female Buba who was given to me by a relative who was going away to college and could no longer keep her. The smaller male, Izzy, I got from some people who did't want him anymore. The larger male, Ozzy I purchased from a pet store that had taken him in as a rescue and had him cramped in a little 30 gallon aquarium (he was already around 4 ft long or more) the little female, Lizzie, I also purchased from a tiny pet shop that had her in a 20 gallon aquarium. She was really skinny an could barely move around (she was around 3ft long) Now they have a large cage equivalent to a small to average size closet and I am making plans to build them a cage that is 5 ft long by 2-3 ft wide by 7 ft tall. I know that a lot of iguanas don't do well together, but these three are best buds. Ozzy even protects the smaller male, Izzy!  Ozzy was my first rescued Iguana. I have had him for about a year now. When I first got him I couldn't get near him, he would run away and wack me with his tail. Now he will tolerate being picked up, although he still doesn't like it that much, he will let me rub his head and back, he isn't nearly as skittish anymore, and loves being hand fed
lettuce.  Ozzy seems to be a good influence on Lizzy and Izzy too. Izzy I got second  and although I have only had him about 6 months, he trusts me enough that he doesn't run away when I open the cage door, he'll eat lettuce from my hand and lets me pick him up occationally.
Lizzy, who I got fall of 2002,, is still very skittish although now she does't run and hide every time I open the cage door.  She has also finally been gaining weight, although she could stand to gain a bit more. I quaranteened her for a month before I put her with the other two and she didn't really eat much during that time, but since I put her with the other two she has started eating and is slowly becoming less afraid.
Buba, who I've head since June 14, 2003, rules the house. She is allowed to leave her cage whenever she wants, and is rarely ever in it. She enjoy's basking in the windows of my house most of all, and also enjoy's frightening my cats who mostly leave her alone. I'm not exactly sure how old she is, but Buba is a big girl, about 4 ft long.
