Chinese Water Dragon

Physignathus concincinus

~Range) Southeast Asia
~Average length) 28-40in
~Average lifespan) 10-15yrs
~Diet) I recommend feeding Water Dragons a variety of insects and worms consisting of silkworms, mealworms, waxworms, superworms, crickets, grasshoppers (collected from pesticide free area), as well as a variety of fresh tropical fruits like mango, papaya, banana, kiwi, as well as 100% fruit baby food like peached and pears. Be sure to use appropriate vitamin and mineral supplements. Remember not to mix vitamins and minerals as they can degrade each other. Instead vary the days so you are dusting with vitamins some day and minerals other days. Some brands of vitamins or minerals I recommend are Sticky Tongue Farms Minerall, Necton-REP, T-rex Bone Aid Microstick Calcium Powder as well as the Exoterra liquid supplements.
~Daytime temperature) 77-82 degrees F with 96 degree F hot spot
~Evening/night temperature)
68-72 degrees F
~
Minimum cage size) With Water Dragons the larger the cage the better. These lizard are flighty and if in too small of an enclosure they can smash their noses into the glass when frightened cause injury. A screen enclosure is even better than an aquarium because the screen tends to give a bit lessening the injury to the nose. For a young lizard 1 recommend a 29 (30x12) or 30 (36x12) gallon aquarium or screen cage. For adults I recommend a 75 (48x18) gallon aquarium or screen cage for 1 or 2 adults.
~
Lighting) full spectrum fluorescent light with a basking bulb for heat
~Substrate) bark or soil reptile bedding
~Other info) be sure to have a water dish large enough for them to sit in, also mist daily, and have lots of branched for them to climb. The water pool will have to be changed at least every other day as Water Dragons tend to deficate in their water.
