Part 2 of 2
French fishermen certainly think so. They watch their cats closely to predict weather changes. You can too. Rain? Watch for your cat to pass her paw behind her ear during grooming. Windy? Watch for your cat to clean her nose. Low tide? Look for small pupils. High tide? Wide pupils, of course. When will the bad weather end? When your cat twists and turns. Seas so stormy there could be a shipwreck? Your cat turns her back to the fireplace. It's not only French cats who can predict the weather. All cats are extraordinary sensitive to even the smallest changes in the weather. In fact, you can throw away your thermometers and stop watching weather forecasts on TV. All you have to do is pay close attention to the five positions your cat sleeps. These will tell you whether it's over 70 degrees, under 55 degrees, and everything in between. = Groundhog Day = If on Feb. 2, it is bright and clear, the groundhog will stay in his den, indicating that more snow and winter are to come; if it is dark or rainy the winter is over. === If Groundhog Day is clear, corn and fruits will then be dear. === If it thunders in February, it will frost in April. === The shepherd would rather see the wolf enter his fold on Candlemas Day then the sun. Evening red and morning gray will set the traveler on his way; but evening gray and morning red will bring down rain upon his head. = Farmers Chant = Go plant the bean when the moon is light, and you will find that this is right; plant the potatoes when the moon is dark, and to this line you always hark, but if you vary form this rule, you will find you are a fool, if you always follow this rule to the end, you will always have money to spend.
