“You never seem to learn, do you? GET OUT OF MY NEIGHBORHOOD, BITCH!”
Asuka Kazama. A
normal teenage girl who always ended up getting in fights with the local
bullies in
However, that is definitely not the case, as her best friend just so happens to be a guy. His name is Sasuke…or rather, that’s his nickname. His full name is Sanosuke Sakamoto, but Sasuke would do just fine for now. He was a normal schoolboy…when in school, anyway. Outside of school, he does a bit of freerunning[1] as a hobby. However, he isn’t as popular in school as one would think, due to his quiet and serious demeanor when in class.
The two of them were currently engaged in a tussle with…you guessed it…some punks who were pushing around some of the kids outside of their High School and forcing them to give up their lunch money, among other things. For Asuka, these guys were no problem. She had just taken care of all three of them with ease; Sasuke didn’t do so much as to lift a finger. However, he was criticizing every move she was making during the fight. The both of them do go to her house, which is also the Kazama dojo, and are training partners.
“Bad form, Asuka,” Sasuke replied, as the thugs ran off in fear.
“Huh? What’re you talking about? That elbow was perfectly placed right in his jaw!”
“Yeah, but wasn’t it supposed to go just a little further than that?” He pointed to his nose.
Asuka sighed in exasperation, glaring at him just a bit. “Well, let’s see how you do when you haven’t had that much time to prep,” she blurted out, a little frustrated at his remarks.
“Never stopped you before,” Sasuke responded, scoffing a bit. “I’m just saying that you’ve been lacking a little bit of focus lately. Are you sure you’re all right?”
The conversation continued on after the both of them had picked up their stuff and walked off, headed towards the Kazama dojo, which also happened to be Asuka’s house. The shorthaired Japanese brunette didn’t answer his question right away. She paused as she tried to form an answer.
“…Asuka?” Sasuke asked again. She sighed.
“Yeah, I’m all right. It’s just that I’ve been having these weird dreams lately.”
“Really? What about?”
“Well, I’m standing inside a church, and there’s this guy with weird horns on his head, right?”
“Mm-hmm.”
“And he stares at me, saying these words…”
Before she could continue, she felt a slight vibration on the left side of her hip. That was where she stored her cell phone. She took it out of her clip holder and stared at the number…it was her mom, calling from home again. Asuka sighs.
“Hang on a second, OK?” Asuka said to Sasuke, as the two of them stop while she takes the call. “Hello? … Yeah … Uh-huh … What? Again? But didn’t we have that two days ago?…*Sigh* Ok, whatever, I’ll get it…Yeah…Yeah…OK, mom, love you too. Bye.” She hangs up.
“Who was that?” Sasuke asked.
“My mom. Looks like we’re having Yakiniku[2] for dinner…again. Anyways, where were we?”
“The part where the guy with horns was about to say something to you,” Sasuke answered, still curious.
“Oh, right…so he stares at me and says…” she cleared her throat as she tried her best at a deep booming voice, ’Fear the wrath of god!’” Sasuke chuckled.
“I think you’ve been watching way too much late-night TV, Asuka. What next, you’re going to tell me it’s a little kid who can transform into some sort of Superdemon that can steal your soul and crush it in his hand?”
Asuka chuckled. “No, not really, but he did seem intimidating. But this guy seemed strange…as if I knew him from somewhere before, but I don’t know where.”
“Really? You think it’s one of those weird curses where you die in one week?”
Asuka scoffed. “You’ve been watching Ringu[3] too much. In any case, it was probably just some weird dream.”
Little did she know that in the near future, that strange man would be more than just some guy in a weird dream.
But that’s another story.
As the two of them continue their walk, Asuka glances at her watch. Her eyes went wide as she finally realized what time it was. It was only 30 minutes until their Martial Arts class started! At this pace, and considering that they were also carrying their gear with them, they were definitely going to be late.
“Crap! I lost track
of time! We have to hurry!” Asuka
exclaimed, as the both of them started to book it, double-time. Asuka’s house was about 20 blocks from their
current position. Dodging people and
oncoming cars, the two of them booked it like it was the last bus out of
3:57 PM
Just in time.
That was the only thought that came to both Asuka’s and Sasuke’s minds as she opened the gate to the residence and dojo. However, the only thought that actually came to their mind when they arrived was…
“What…the…fuck…?” Asuka muttered, shocked at the horrible display before their eyes. The dojo was trashed; there was a gaping hole next to the entrance, the sign had fallen off, a couple of students were laid out either unconscious or injured, and not only that, but it seems that whoever had caused it wasn’t finished just yet. Sounds of fists and grunts could be heard in the background, as it appeared that someone inside was still engaged with the assailant…and losing.
“Asuka, stay here!” Sasuke exclaimed. “I’m going in there to see what’s going on!”
“Oh, uh-uh, not alone you’re not,” Asuka replied. “I’m coming with you!”
“Are you crazy?!” Sasuke asked before realizing whom he was talking to. There were times where she thought she was Supergirl, but he wasn’t going to make this one of those times. “OK, don’t answer that, but at the very least, stay out here. Chances are whoever did this probably brought some friends along.”
“Mm-hmm…OK, whatever; have it your way,” Asuka mumbled, a little disgusted. Shaking his head, he runs into the chaos of the ruined dojo.
