MATCH REPORT HERNE BAY HARRIERS U11s travelled to Victoria Park, in Canterbury, to take on Canterbury Eagles in the Parker Steel Youth League. The Harriers over came both the elements and the Eagles to win an even match 4-2. With only five minutes played the Eagles took the initiative, when they capitalised on a defensive error and took the lead.

This motivated the Harriers as they spent most of the first half attacking the Eagles goal, with chances falling to Lewis Senft, Josh Well, Russell Gower and Robert Tait. However, the Eagles did managed a number of breakaway attacks, which were broken up by Jonathan Culver, Ryan Neat, James Putnham and Scott Venn, in the Harriers goal. The Harriers pressure paid off when just before half time Jack Bishop rounded the goalkeeper and placed the ball in the corner of the net to level matters.

In the second half the game became stretched and both teams had opportunities, but it was the Harriers who struck first when Jack Bishop chipped the on coming goalkeeper from the edge of the box.
This lead was short lived as Canterbury equalised with a solo run from their own half, which was finished clinically.

Herne Bay then started to play their best football, which saw good passing and movement from Michael Epps, Mark Hammond, and Michael Smith. It was from one of these moves that saw the Harriers extend their lead when Alex Jeffries latched onto a through ball from man of the match David Crane and fired the ball under the advancing goalkeeper.

The game was sealed minutes later when Jack Bishop scored from close range to complete his hat trick and the Harriers victory.
