| TEAM Under 9 Colts H/A Away MATCH DATE 08/03/03 OPPONENTS Dover Rangers Colts LEAGUE/CUP League HALF TIME SCORE 1-3 FULL TIME SCORE 1-5 MAN OF THE MATCH Matthew Evans MATCH REPORT Colts Goal Spree! Herne Bay Harrier Colts under 9s continued with their winning ways with a 5-1 drubbing of Dover Rangers Colts that saw Tom Wake score his third hat trick of the season in impressive style. On a very heavy waterlogged Crabble Lane pitch , The Harriers opened the scoring after just 3 minutes from a four man passing movement that Tom Wake latched onto on the front post. This inspired the Harriers to venture forward and in as many minutes Michael Butler with his sixth goal of the season made it two nil . Tom Wake made it three nil from a jinking move that left three defenders in his Wake, however, the home side did manage to pull back a goal from a penalty that hit the crossbar and had appeared to be cleared by Charlie Crane but the referee signalled the ball had crossed the line. After the break and playing uphill in rain and strong winds , Matt Evans , captain and man of the match broke through a now bedraggled Dover defence to allow Daniel Watson a shot from 20 meters that came off a defender for the fourth goal which really proved to stop Dover Colts in their tracks . Before being replaced by Kieran Brett , Tom Wake rounded off the scoring spree with a left foot drive which the home keeper could only push into his own net. The Harriers continued to pressure the home side with Brett , Rogers and Billy Harding all coming close with short range shots. Manager , Chris Rogers said after the game Matt Evans showed true leadership and inspired his team to a comprehensive win , The Colts have shown this week how the game should be played , they are a credit to youth football and more so their club. .
