MATCH REPORT
Harriers Land First Points of the Season

Herne Bay Harriers U12s secured their first points of the season when they defeated Kennington FC 2-1 to move off the bottom of the table.

On a heavy pitch the Harriers started brightly when Russell Gower, straight from the kick off sent the ball over the bar. Shortly after David Crane should have put the Harriers in front but his shot just missed the post.

The Harriers took the lead from a corner when James Putnam fired a thunderbolt shot from the edge of the penalty box to give the Harriers a well-deserved lead mid way through the first half.

Hard work from Robert Tait, Ryan Blackwell and Man of the Match Michael Epps, could do nothing to stop Kennington from equalising just before the break.

In a very even second half the Harriers should have taken the lead again when Lewis Senft and Jack Bishop latched onto Michael Trittons pinpoint crosses to make  the Kennington goalkeeper saved twice from close range.

At the other end Damien Moody-Smith in the Harriers goal pulled off a string of save to keep the Harriers in the game. With a goal line clearance from Jonathan Culver helping to keep the scores even.

But it was left to Josh Wells to score the winning goal, as his shot comprehensibly beat the Kennington goalkeeper, to set up a nervy last 10 minutes for the Harriers. As the final whistle was blown the Harriers were relieved to notch up their first points of the seasons.
