MATCH REPORT HERNE BAY HARRIERS U12�s travelled to Tyler Hill in the preliminary round of the knockout cup, where they were defeated 7 � 3. The Harriers started brightly. The defence of Carlo Monticolombi, Michael Epps & James Putnam contained Tyler Hill for 15 minutes, until they scored a breakaway goal. The Harriers then drew level when Ryan Blackwell scored a bullet head from a well-delivered corner from Russell Gower.
Tyler Hill extended their lead and again the Harrier fought back with a second goal from Man of the Match Ryan Black well. Just before half time a well worked move by Robert Tait & Dave Crane resulted in the Harriers taking the lead when Josh Wells finished from close range.
In the second half Damian Moody-Smith in the Harriers goal pulled of a string of excellent saves, one of which saw him tip a fierce shot over the bar. At the other end both Lewis Senft & Jack Bishop came very close to scoring their first goals of the season, but the Tyler Hill keeper saved well.
Tyler Hill were then awarded a disputed penalty, which proved to be the turning point of the game. With the introduction of Alex Jefferies & Michael Smith the Harrier could not address the balance and Tyler Hill then scored two quick goals. With minutes remaining Tyler Hill score their final goal which saw them progress to the next round.
