| TEAM U 11s Away MATCH DATE 17/02/02 OPPONENTS Active Margate Youth FC in the League HALF TIME SCORE 1 0 FULL TIME SCORE 1- 2 SCORERS Ryan Blackwell 1 & David Crane 1 MAN OF THE MATCH Robert Tait MATCH REPORT HERNE BAY HARRIERS U11s travelled to Thanet to play Active Margate in a very physical and demanding match, which saw the Harriers take all 3 points for the second time this season. Both teams started well, but it was Margate who eventually threaten the Harriers goal with a number of breakaway attacks, but for the industrious interventions of Ryan Neat, Jonathan Culver, Michael Epps & James Putnam in the Harriers defence the final score line could have been different. Half way through the first half Jack Bishop was fouled just out side the Margate penalty box. This saw Josh Wells free kick just miss the Margate goal. Minutes later Margate took the lead when they broke down their left and cut in from the sideline to thump the ball high into the goal, leaving Damien Moody Smith no chanced in the Harriers goal. In the second half Alex Jefferies & Lewis Senft cause the Margate defence no end of problems with there penetrating running, which resulted a number of corners. It was from one of these that Russell Gower delivered the perfect corner to the near post, where Ryan Blackwell rose above everyone to power the ball into the far corner of the goal. Man of the Match Robert Tait never stopped running and battling for the duration of the game and was an inspiration to his team-mates. In the dyeing minutes of the game David Crane beat the Margate offside trap and coolly scored the winning, as he did in the previous meeting between the two sides. Manager Peter Tait said, The boys desired to win, as their work rate was exceptional, they are a credit to themselves and The Harriers. |
