MATCH REPORT In what turned out to be a pulsating game from start to finish, Herne Bay Harriers under 10�s maintained their 100% winning record with a 5-2 victory over local rivals Whitstable. Harriers took control of the game from the opening whistle but had to wait 15 minutes before Jack Davey set up Aiden Gawler for the opening goal. Harriers then laid siege to the Whitstable goal without success until 5 minutes before half-time. A great long pass from Stuart Austin found Shane Moody-Smith who neatly slotted a pass for Gawler to run onto and fire home from 10 yards. Gawler then completed a first half hatrick on the stroke of half-time.
Whitstable started the second half like a steam train and scored 2 goals in the first 10 minutes. Tireless work from mid-fielders James Brown and Kieran Wardman, defenders George Hardy and Stuart Austin and solid goalkeeping from Callum Helman left the game finely balanced. But with 5 minutes remaining, Gawler set off on a run from the half-way line and thumped the ball home from 25 yards. Moody-Smith then completed the win in the dying seconds of the game.
