MAN OF THE MATCH

MATCH REPORT Herne Bay Harriers U10As clinched the Division 2 championship on Sunday with a workmanlike, rather than polished, performance against hardworking Bliby at Stanhope in Ashford.
Bliby started well, enjoying lots of possession before Harriers began to establish themselves on their opponents. Aiden Gawler hit both the post and the crossbar from distance before Bliby took the lead from the penalty spot after James Lawrance-Benge inexplicably handled in the area. James Brown scored a sensational equaliser from 25 yards, beating 2 men before chipping the keeper whod strayed off his goal line.

Harriers stepped up a gear in the second half, inspired by the lively Jack Davey. James Brown set up Aiden Gawler after some good work by Sam Bubb to put the Herne Bay side 2-1 up and Jack Davey delivered a sensational cross for Gawler to head home his second and Harriers looked home and dry at 3-1 up.
Bliby had other ideas though and struck a superb second goal, chipping the keeper from the edge of the box and then they hit the post in the dying minutes.

But Harriers held on with cool heads to clinch the title, maintain their 100% record and open up an untouchable 15 point gap over second placed St Margarets whom they play this Sunday.

Squad: Stuart Austin (capt), George Hardy, Aiden Gawler,  Shane Moody-Smith, Callum Helman,  Jack Davey,  Ben Rowland, James Brown, James Lawrance-Benge, Sam Bubb.
