| TEAM U 10s H/A Home MATCH DATE 10/2/02 OPPONENTS Thanet Colts LEAGUE / CUP League HALF TIME SCORE 2-0 FULL TIME SCORE 2-0 SCORERS Adam Woollcott, & O.G. MAN OF THE MATCH Edward Govier. MATCH REPORT Harriers U10s put in a workman like performance to secure the points against Thanet Colts on Sunday. In a tight game chances were few and far between, and with the Colts keeper in excellent form it was always going to be a low scoring affair. Harriers played neat tidy football and created the few chances that there were in the first half. Adam Woollcott put them ahead on 10 minutes with a shot low into the corner and not long after that a long range effort from Sam Taylor deflected off a Colts defender into his own net. With Taylor controlling the midfield and Edward Govier and Joshua Robinson solid at the back Colts never threatened in the first half, other than a long range shot tipped over the bar by Harriers keeper Sam Stickings. The second half saw Colts come more into the game. They had a 10 minute spell of persistent pressure, but the excellent Govier, Robinson, and second half sub Sam Brett kept them out. On the one occasion that they did break through John Hall, continuing his good run of form cleared off the line. Harriers managed to regain control, thanks to Jack Vincer and Taylor winning the midfield battle and Govier, the MOM, was unlucky with a header from a corner, and Darren OConnell couldnt stretch enough to finish off a fine cross from Taylor. Harriers finished the game in control to collect all 3 points and maintain their lead at the top of the table. Team: Sam Stickings, Edward Govier, Jack Vincer, Joshua Robinson, Sam Taylor, Sam Brett, Darren OConnell (Capt), John Hall, Adam Woollcott. |
