MATCH REPORT In a thrilling encounter Harriers U10�s deservedly came out 1-0 winners over St Mags colts on Sunday.
The game was somewhat spoiled by strong winds but Harriers started brightly, controlling the game from the outset. Sam Taylor, Darren O�Connell and John Hall dominated the midfield and were joined by Jamie Dale, performing very well for the second game running and they created several chances. The St Mags keeper though was in inspired form. He made save after save to deny Harriers a deserved lead.
Josh Robinson and Edward Govier were in commanding form at the back and Robinson made one crucial tackle in the first half, racing back to stop the St Mags attacker bearing down on goal. At half time the score was 0-0 and it was looking like Harriers were never going to score.
The second half followed the same pattern. Adam Woollcott hit a post, Sam Taylor had a shot cleared off the line and the Colts keeper made several excellent saves. Just when it looked like it was going to be one of those days where Harriers just were not going to score, they put together the best move of the match to take the points. There were only 10 minutes to go when Robinson, (the MOM for a solid performance at the back) and Govier started a flowing move from the back. The ball was played on to Taylor and then onto Woollcott who spotted a great forward run by O�Connell.
O�Connell was played in just inside the area and he buried his shot in the bottom corner to finally beat the keeper.
Harriers hang onto their lead and their goal-keeper, Jack Vincer was rarely troubled due to sound defending.
