MATCH REPORT HERNE BAY HARRIERS U11s second half performance should have seen them come away with at least a draw in their away game at Tankerton FC, but instead they received their second defeat of the year losing 2 -1.

In the first half the Harriers under achieved and took far too long to get into the rhythm of the game. This allowed Tankerton to take the initiative, which paid off, as a across from the right side was deflected in, giving Scott Venn in the Harriers goal no chance.

This galvanised the Harriers, and following a good interchange of passes from Robert Tait, Ryan Blackwell and Lewis Senft, Josh Wells was unfortunate not to equalise when his shoot just went over the bar.

This resurgence was short lived as the Tanketon attack struck again to extend there lead midway through the first half. The Harriers defence of Michael Epps, James Putnam, Jonathan Culver and Man of the Match Russell Gower worked tirelessly to keep Tankerton at bay.

Just before the break Jack Bishops shot rebounded off of the Tankerton goalkeeper and David superman Crane was on hand to fire the ball into the goal.

For most of the second half the Harriers put Tamkerton under pressure as they played more like a team. With the introduction of Mark Hammond, Alex Jefferies  the Harriers were unlucky not to level matters. Tankerton still
kept a sting in their tall as they nearly extended there lead when Damien Moody Smith saw a close range shot hit the bar. Over all the Harreirs paid the price for a poor first half performance.
