2.07.08 I forgot to update! Well, I did a destructive test on the ootheca... I was so impatient I ripped it in half. Apparently it had been incubating for 5 months. So, the inside was black and crystalline. Dead.
All is not lost though! For my three dead D. dessicata nymphs, Yen promised me six free S. pretiosa ones once they hatch.
12.4.07 I ordered a female gongy from Eros a week ago and along with that an S. pretiosa ooth. It arrived today. Eros says he ordered it from a guy who had a big tank of them together and just let them do their thing. So who knows, this ooth may be infertile! Fingers crossed that it is not.
