Parasphendale agrionina
BUDWING MANTIS

2.24.08 Not really anything new. Male is at subsubadult and female is too (I think). Still have all the other nymphs as well and no casualties.

2.10.08 Nothing much to update - I am speeding up the females and slowing down the males. The earlier two males I recieved from Ken are at L4-5 and the smaller ones from Kristen at L3-4 still. "Lucky" is at L4 I think, and my other female has molted once more and is no longer severely deformed. She is very aggressive, and is probably at subsubadult.

1.15.08 Woot, a package arrived for me today, containing 7 budwings from Kristen. Among them, one seemed to have a fungal infection and died a few hours after I unpacked it. The others were fine, all male but one. Now I have two females. And, this female that I have just recieved has been given the name "Lucky" by both me and Kristen; she is the only budwing that Kristen was sure of that was female, and she actually hid from Kristen behind a paper towel in the cage in a previous transaction and was the only one left behind until the other ooth hatched! How "lucky" is that: the only guaranteed female hid and so now I got her? Otherwise, I would have been sent all males, defeating the purpose of my entire order. :P

12.27.07 Argh, the female had a mismolt - and is now deformed slightly. I don't know if she'll be able to molt okay for her next molt, she is very weak.

12.16.07 Lost another budwing - one of the males. Leaves me with three: two males and one female.

12.14.07 Recieved 5 budwings from Ken the Bug Guy. One unfortunately died in transit, but the others seem to be fine. The one that died was one of only two females in the bunch. Hopefully the lone, surviving female will be able to survive up to adulthood!
