Blepharopsis mendica
DEVIL'S FLOWER MANTIS

Special notes: This mantis is similar in stock and size to P. Ocellata and P. Wahlbergii; the only difference is the coloring.

11.09.07 I had ordered two B. mendica, male/female, from mantisplace.com (Nick Barta). They arrived a day later. The male was subadult and the female subsubadult. The male was extremely weak. I gave him water, but he did not drink much. I placed him on a Kritter Karrier lid and slowly turned it upside down. I put the lid's edges between two other Kritter Karriers so that he wasn't enclosed. A few hours later he had fallen and was dying. Two days later the female also died. I got a refund for both of them.

I only got a brief experience with this species, but I may raise buy and start them in the future. For now, I am not.
