| Rita Skeeter, as most people know, is a journalist for the Daily Prophet. But of course she is one of those journalist you make up gossip and put it in there to get attention. She's said many false things about Harry, mostly, but also Hermione. She has said that the two were "going together". But, as Ron has said, she harassed Hermione like this because Hermione got involved when she picked on Harry. Ron called her a "Scarlet woman" and Hermione thought this was rather funny. But by the end of the fourth book, Hermione figured out that Rita is an animagus. She can transform into a beetle at will. This lets her snoop in on any private conversations. Not only is she an animagus, but she is an UNREGISTERED animagus. This would mean that if Hermione were to tell the autorities, she would be in pretty deep trouble. Hermione has agreed not to tell anybody as long as Rita keeps to the truth about Harry and everybody else. Rita agreed. |
