| ~~~Chapter 2-Living at the Durlsey's~~~ | ||||||
| Heather Potts was sitting on her bed, waiting for Dumbledore to disapparate so they could go. She had grabbed a bag and put all the stuff that wasn't in her room that she needed to take and put it in it. She was holding Bob the Teddy Bear. She was nervous that Harry wouldn't like her, or that she wouldn't get along well with one of the Weasley's. She had used the books as an escape from the real world, wishing that the wizarding world were real. And now she found out it was, and that she was related to the boy she read about in all those books, and worried about when she got to a cliffhanger in the stories.
Suddenly Heather heard a loud crack and saw Dumbledore staring at her and she knew it was time to go. She stood up and then walked behind Dumbledore out into the living room. Her "family" was standing there, tears in there eyes, waiting to hug and kiss Heather before she went. "I'm going to miss you all so much!" She said, a tear starting to form. "Except you you little brat." She said to her "brother" and they laughed. "Just Kidding, I'll miss you just as much." She kissed and hugged her family standing outside the turn for probably 15 minutes, or at least until Mad-Eye Moody showed up. "Hurry up. We're going to be late." He said, his magical eye wizzing around looking around the porch. "Oh shut up Mad-Eye." Tonks said coming up to the door behind him. "Hello Heather." "Hello Tonks, Moody, Lupin." She raised her hand in hello to all of them, since Lupin had shown up just then. "I'm sad to say Moody is right Heather, we do have to leave." He said, his voice somber. "Bye." Heather said to what she had known her whole life, and feeling guilty that she was torn between happiness and sadness. She was sad because she was leaving the life she had known but happy because she was going to start a whole new life, one she never could have dreamed of. By the next morning they had landed and were in London, and we're to take a Ministry car to the Dursley's. "Shouldn't there be a full gaurd?" Heather asked politely. "Well, we would have," said Moody, "but we don't want to draw any attention to you." His magical eye was wizzing around and Heather knew he was looking for anyone suspicious. When they arrived at the Dursley's, Heather was nervous, she did not want to meet the Dursley's. Dumbledore stood up and went inside the house, and Heather stood up to follow him when he felt a hand on her shoulder holding them back. "We need to wait here while Dumbledore sorts this out with the Dursley's." Moody said quietly. Heather sat back down and waited what seemed like hours until Dumbledore came back out and said come on in Heather, it's time for you to meet your Aunt and Uncle." Dumbledore said simply. Heather stood up, holding the teddy bear, and decided it was better to put him in her bag, and she did so. When she walked in, she saw that the house was unbelievably clean. She walked into the kitchen, and was almost blinded by the cleanliness of the kitchen. Harry was sitting there, he smiled, and she suddenly felt a surge of affection for her brother. She wanted to say hi, but thought better of it. She looked around and saw Aunt Petunia and Uncle Vernon sitting there. Uncle Vernon was scowling and Petunia was looking away, as if looking at her would make her sick. "Sit down girl." Uncle Vernon said harshely to her, so she sat down quietly next to Harry, and Harry caught her eye. He gave her a look of calming hope and happiness to have a new friend. "Let's get a few things straight," Uncle Vernon blustered,"you will share a room with Harry, I'll set up a cot for you to sleep on. You and you're...you're...brother, will stay in that room unless you have to go to the bathroom or unless we tell you you can leave, you are not to talk to any of us. Got that girl?" He said staring at her, his face turning slightly purple. It was obvious that Vernon did not want Harry or Heather to be living with him and his family. "Yes Uncle Vernon." Heather said quietly. "How do you know our names girl, I never told you what my name is?" Heather knew she couldn't answer the truth, so she simply replied "Dumbledore told me on our way here." "Ok then. Harry show her to your room. NOW!" And with that, Harry stood up and Heather followed him out of the room, Dumbledore had left when Heather had sat down, or at least everyone thought they had. When Harry and Heather walked into there room, Dumbledore was sitting on the bed waiting for them to come in. "Come in. I need to talk to both of you." He said calmly, so Harry and Heather sat down, Heather on the bed next to Dumbledore, Harry on the desk chair. "I need you to get a few things straight. Heather, do you know when you're birthday is?" He asked looking directly at Heather, but Heather hesitated in the reply. "I thought I did, but there's no way my birthday could be August 14th if I'm Harry's twin. Is there?" She finished the statement and looked down. "No, Heather, you are right, you're birthday is the same as Harry's, your parent's thought it was best that almost everything about you was changed, so Voldemort could not find you if he found out about you. Your parents wanted to make sure that if one of there children died because of Voldemort, the other child would not. And no Harry, they did not want you to die, they just could not bear to give both there children away. And Heather, that does not mean they loved you any less, they loved you just as much, and it hurt them very deeply to give you up." He finished there and Heather and Harry just sat there for a minute staring at each other. Then Dumbledore stood up. "Heather, you are to allow your Aunt and Uncle to set up the cot, but don't bother sleeping on it, your room is just through that door. You may go in and look if you would like." Heather stood up and walked over to the door and stepped inside. Harry followed her. Harry looked at the room and noticed there was a computer, he had never had a computer, or a TV, which Heather was looking at right now. "Heather," Dumbledore said, and Heather looked up at him,"whenever you are in this room, your Aunt and Uncle will think you are in Harry's room, and same to you Harry, whenever you are in here, your Aunt and Uncle can come into your room and they will see copies of yourselves. And yes Heather, the computer and Television still work, and you still have internet access, so you can tell everyone that you will be gone during the school year, but as you know, you cannot tell them where you'll be. As far as they should know, you're jsut going to a boarding school without computers." "Ok Professor!" Heather replied happily. She was happy that she could at least sleep in her own room for now. And again, with a loud crack, Heather knew that Dumbledore had left. |
