Quote: "It's-it's true?" faltered Professor McGonagall. "After all he's done...all the people he's killed...he couldn't kill a
little boy? It's just astounding...of all the things to stop him...but how in the name of heaven did Harry survive?"
Okay, big deal! A small insy-winsy baby survived an attack from who I think just came out from an assylum and randomly kill
people. Right, so what! But wait a minute there's a catch! What catch you may ask...the some-how crazy killer actually hold his
gun on the wrong side and fire himself??!! No! Nothing THAT far-fetched. But the insy-winsy baby is actually defensless
and the supposedly killer is actually the most electrifying, monstrous and evil, HE-WHO-MUST-NOT-BE-NAMED or better
known as HE-WHO-EVERYONE-FEARS...LORD..LORD..LORD..sigh. I can't speak his name... okay, Lord Voldemort.Did anyone hear
me?? No? Good! Okay, well this book actually sparks(starts) off with the introduction of the young wizard boy, Harry Potter
who manage to survive an attack from Lord Voldemort. Ten years later, young and helpless Harry (probably J.K.Rowling was
trying to get us to have sympathy for Harry) is all grown up but still not ready to kick some serious butt!! Too bad!
Hermione Granger must have spent the whole summer reading but Harry, well, he spent the whole summer locked up. (More
about Hermione later.) You see, still-young, Harry with a lightning bolt scar on his head, is left at the home of his only blood
relatives, the Dursleys, who live on Privet Drive. The Dursleys are the exactly worst breed of people to stay with especially
Harry for they fear anything that is outside of their normal lives, especially magic. And of course Harry's aunt and uncle are
not happy at all with the idea of having him live with them. Harry lives under a staircase in a small room with a thin view to
the outside, being completely shut out from the world around him and the truth about his parents. So when Harry receives a
mysterious and curious letter from the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, he was loads happier then he was
shocked. And before Harry's excitement could even sink in, he was rescued by Hagrid (a beetle-eyed giant), taken to Diagon
Alley and ALAKAZAM transformed into a wizard (but still not as good as Hermione...U ROCK GURL!!). You can say luck was
always on Harry's side. As soon as Hagrid vanished into thin air, he met the good-old Wesleys...opppps I mean the Weasleys.
And was soon boarding the Hogwarts Express straight to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. (Notice that J.K.R
actually put witches in front of wizards...hehe) On the train, he got to know several friends (some of them that would have
change his future if he had not know them) like Ron Weasley, Hermione Granger, Neville Longbottom and not forgetting the
sly and "cool" Malfoy, Draco Malfoy (which he had actually met early on) and his faithful sidekicks, Vincent Crabbe and
Gregory Goyle. When, he arrived at Hogwarts he was sorted to Gryffindor-who are known for thier true courage and bravery.
His school is not much different from ours, well, they have lessons including History of Magic and teachers that as usual
ranges from different shapes and sizes...huh?? Maybe not shapes but types, those who are stern, those who are small and
nice, those who are just okay and those who are PURE EVIL. I only have one teacher who fits that description ...Professor
Severnus Snape, of course. (like I will tell you any from my school even if I know one). Back to Professor S.S, he seems to
exist just to make life for Harry miserable, which delights some readers...mainly ME!! However, there's more to him then
meets the eye...young Potter...oh, sorry. Harry, I mean thinks that this "twisted evil old git" is planning to steal the
Philosopher's Stone (who makes the drinker of the elixir immortal).
"Immortal??!!"
"It mean's you never die,"said Hermione Granger.
"I know what it means.!!"
Sorry for the disturbance, it was unavoidable. So off trots Harry and his close buddies Ron Weasley whom he met on the
Hogwarts Express and Hermione Granger, who he started to befriend after an encounter with a troll (seriously if it takes a
troll to make him be a close friend to a girl, then what will it actually take to make him have a crush on someone?? Hmmmm.)
to catch Snape red-handed. Harry, Ron, and Hermione then take off on all sorts of adventures while attending their first
year at the school. During this time, Harry's eyes are opened to all sorts of interesting things that he had never seen or
experienced before. That's when everything starts to be exciting and when the stealer was revealed, Harry was too shocked
that he died on the spot...Well, he did not actually, he confronted the baddie like a hero(a true Gryffindorian act) *cough
cough* and sort of drove it off Hogwarts and (Well, as you can read I am a BAD BAD BAD book reviewer) like any feel good
book it has a happy ending...
Things to watch out in HP&TPS : Quidditch, Malfoy, Snape, the relationship between Ron, Hermione and Harry, and
THE ENDING that obviously leads to a sequel...Happy Reading!!
Rating : 64.5% -Great book but lacks something, it's...read it and judge for yourself.
