How we got into Saint Bernards

It all started in 1989 around August/ September,my wife had a Pomeranian,I had hunting Terriers which I use to hunt rabbits and foxes with,one night it was a bad storm,so I had let my terriers out of their runs due to flooding, so they could shelter under our back verandah,the following morning early my wife Sue had let her Pom out to the tiolet and had put her back in her cage and then returned to bed.Unfortunately the door had not clipped properly and cheeky had got out,well a Pom pup looks very similar to a fox cub,well I need not say anymore.Sue then decided she wanted a dog of her own, which my dog's could not hurt,Sue origanally went looking for an English mastif(I'm now grateful she did not find one)So one day Sue came home and said what about a Saint Bernard,well I nearly flipped out, then I thought no Sue will never find one,Then Sue said we had to go to a breeders on the weekend to look at a Saint that was being rehoused,I then thought all I have to do is go look at the dog say no to my wife, because it was to big we did'nt have the room,mind you we have 5.5 acres.We arrived at the Breeders home,we had the choice of two bitches which were being rehoused,One was in the front yard being very friendly,the other in the hallway with pups,I went to the door and I thought this dog was going to come through the door and eat me,the breeder said not to worry the bitch did not know us and she was protecting her puppies,that the dog would be different when she let her out with us(by this time I was starting to panic at the thought of this dog on the other side of the door)WELL Gypsy came bounding out and was all kisses and cuddles I then said to Sue We must have this dog she is adorable.And that is how we got our first Saint bernard,Gypsy had stole our hearts,sadly Gypsy has left us,but she will be forever in our hearts.

Since our humble beginning's of sharing our lives with one SAINT,We have been introduced to a whole new world,our interest in the breed grew,Over the years we have made many four and two legged friend's which have the same great love for this Beutiful breed,which is aptly named SAINT BERNARD
