Other than music, he is also proficient in Literary Compositions and Visual Arts. He also posses a strong background in computers in applications such as Adobe PageMaker, PhotoShop and Image Ready, Microsoft Excel and CorelDraw, and HTML programming. Whenever he is free, he either paints, make a poem or write-ups, or designing a website. He also composes songs and arranges some musical piece. All these were not just some hobby to spend his spare time, he uses these talents to earn a living as well by designing business logos, conceptualizing artistic presentations, interior decorations, making native jewelries and even selling his own works of art like oil paintings and pastel drawings. Aside from these, he arranges music for performers, MIDI sequencing for musicians, making advertising jingles for businesses and musical scoring for choirs. Once in a while, he contributes his poems and essays to a local newspaper. At present, he is currently working on a science-fiction novel entittled "The Final War" .

Herkie holds a degree in Business Administration. He graduated in Ateneo de Zamboanga University. He also took a non-degree 4-year piano course at the Zamsulu School of Music where he further enhanced his art. He is a Roman Catholic and a law-abiding Filipino born on April 23, 1971 in Zamboanga City, Philippines. He is the oldest son of Avelina Martinez, a successful real estate developer and broker, and Geronimo Del Socorro, an army colonel when he died in 1979. He has two brothers, Maciste, who is a desktop publisher, and Ulysses, an operations manager of a textile company.

Life is an endless learning and knowledge evolves as he always says. Herkie stands up on what he believes in and pushes himself harder to achieve a difference in life, carrying his ideals and principles that are the driving force to make him a better man.

Herkie is the man behind the keys of the Main Avenue Band. A well experienced and polished keyboard player with 20 years of performance record behind him. This keyboardist is able to manipulate the synthesizers extremely well and very adept in music sequencing. His effort has made him quite a bit of a maestro on the instrument. He plays the keyboard with style and this makes the audience appreciate his deftness and fine arrangements. Twice an awardee as Best Keyboardist Player in United Arab Emirates, his influences are Mainstream Jazz and pop, Soul and Blues, Techno and Disco,Rock and Alternative, Standard and Clasical music
