Firmware Download Instructions Install PC software (If not already done) 1) Close all applications running on PC 2) Insert CD shipped with the HT1000 into the PC 3) Locate the folder labeled RFU on the CD 4) Copy the folder to a desired location on the PC Driver Installation (If not already done) 1) Insert CD shipped with the HT1000 into the PC 2) Connect the HT1000 to your computer's USB port using a USB cable. If your computer has more than one port, be sure and note what port you choose and use only this port from now on. 3) After a few seconds, your computer should say that it has found new hardware and is locating the software for it. If your computer asks if it should search automatically, say yes. 4) If your computer reports that your new hardware is ready to use, you are done with the driver portion of the installation, if not, continue. 5) If your computer cannot find the driver, it will probably ask you to specify a location. For Windows XP, point it to the folder on the CD XpDriver\CDM2.00.00. For Windows 98 or Me point it to 98Driver\R10906. 6) After a few minutes, you computer should report that your new hardware is ready to use. Identify Proper Comm Port (If not already done) 1) On your computer desktop go to Start, Control Panel. If not in Classic View, switch to Classic View. 2) Double-click the System incon. Click the Hardware tab. Click the Device Manager button. 3) ouble-click on the Ports(COM & LPT) icon. There should be an icon that says "USB Serial Port(COMx)". Note what number x is in (COMx). This is the COM port number your PC will use to communicate the the HT1000. Setup the RFU software (if not already done) 1) Go to the folder containing the RFU software. 2) Double-click on the RFU application file. It is the one label "Rfu" (some lower case), not "RFU" 3) The Rabbit Field Utility (RFU) should now be running. 4) Click on Setup, then Communications... 5) Select the Serial Connection option. Also select "Enable Processor Detection" and "Use USB to Serial Converter" 6) From the Comm Port drop box select the COM port that was assigned by Windows. This was found in previous steps. 7) Click OK Downloading Firmware to the HT1000 1) Place the new firmware file on your computer and note its location. The latest firmware is usually available at http://www.geocities.com/heritagetechnologies/ 2)If not already running, launch the RFU program by double-clicking the RFU application file. 3)Ensure that the HT1000 is connected to the proper USB port 4)Ensure that the HT1000 is off. 5) Press the * key. The backlight should come on. If the backlight is flashing, press the # key and backlight should stay on. The HT1000 is now ready to receive new firmware 6) In the RFU application, click File, Load Flash Image... 7) If the correct file location is not already indicated, click the button to the right of the dialog box with three dots on it. 8) Navigate to the location of the the new firmware file. 9)Double-click on the firmware file. Click OK. 10) A progress bar should now show the progress of the firmware download. 11) When done, turn the HT1000 off and disconnect it from the USB port
