B & O Railroad - Early 1800s
1827: B&O Railway Company was Incorporated The Baltimore & Ohio Railway Company was incorporated, the first railroad in America chartered to carry passengers and freight. Construction of track began the following July, and the first 13- mile (21 km) section was opened in 1830.
