| Peregrin (Pippin) Took |
| Here, we have Pippin Took. He is the youngest of the four Hobbits on the Quest, and therefore the most foolish. Gandalf is quoted on saying "Fool of a Took" on more than one occasion. Pippin's best friend is Merry, and they spend much of their time together in both the books and the movie(s). They spend much of their time playing pranks, and (like most Hobbits) thinking about food. Particularly Pippin, who continues through most of the Quest talking about his stomach. Pippin is one of Frodo's dearest friends, and sets out on the Quest of his own free will (though it isn't quite the same in the movie as in the book). He loves Frodo a great deal, and is willing to go to any length to help him on his journey...even if it means being hungry. Pippin eventually gets separated from the other Hobbits and is made a part of the Guard of Gondor. In the movies, Pippin is played by Billy Boyd (see above) who has this wonderful Scottish accent that I just adore!! (Did anyone else notice how Pippin was the only Scottish one while everyone else had English accents?) |
