After reading the Newsweek article, “The God Debate,” I started to think about God miracles. Personally, I have experienced miracles during my life. Therefore, I believe in God because of miracles I have witnessed, because of what the Bible and church taught me, and because God answers my prayers.

During 2002, my brother had A Plastic Anemia. Doctors were doing all they could to save him my brother was on the brink of death because the blood samples and x-rays did not show anything wrong despite his red blood cells continuing to decrease. When my family and I thought that my brother was going to die, we started to pray with broken hearts so God could save him from this illness that was slowly killing him. Later, the doctors were amazed because his body started to fight the illness, and with help of another treatment, he became better. Now, he is living his life very happily because he is alive. My other cousin’s doctor told her that she couldn’t get pregnant because it was too risky for her. But she got pregnant despite this warning, and when she was delivering, the delivery was complicated. My aunts said that she was praying to God to save her daughter life’s and take hers. I think answer her prayer and my cousin fell into a coma, and her daughter was in critical condition. A couple of days later, her daughter survived, but my cousin never woke up from the coma. She died, and now, her baby is five years old. Another miracle that I witnessed was when my mom got sick. One night my mom woke my dad up and told him that she wasn’t feeling good. She told him that she couldn’t feel her body or her blood running through her body. While I was sleeping in my room, I felt scared. The next day, I went to their room and I told them what I experienced during the night. My dad told us about my mom.  He told us that surprisingly my mom just started to feel better, and better and all of the sudden, she was okay, and we couldn’t understood any of it.

I believe in God because of what the Bible and Church taught me. In an page of The Bible it tells us that there is only one God and the rest of the other Gods are false. Those who believe in these other Gods would be punished. This is true to me because all the other Gods said to be married and have children, and God is truth. He doesn’t have any sins. He also has son born from the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary. Furthermore, The Bible is the word of God. He talks about the coming of his son Jesus thousands of years before it happened, and he also talks about many others prophesies. Furthermore, there are parts of The Bible describing how God is; He is the truth, he is a magnificent soul; He has pity for everyone, even a sinner and He loves everyone.

I believe in God because He answers my prayers. When I was little, my mom taught me to pray when I was feeling scared. Furthermore, when my mom was sick, I prayed for her health so she could be with us. Overtime, she became healthier and healthier and eventually, she was fine. When my brother was sick, we prayed all the time; we made promises and even offered our live for his, and God answered our prayers. Generally, when I am in a big trouble, I pray for help and guidance, but I never ask God to take my troubles away.

In conclusion, I think “The God Debate” is a very interesting article. I strongly believe in God, but I also like to listen to what other people think of The Bible and my religion. Furthermore, I believe in God because of the miracles I have seen, what The Bible and Church taught me, and because He answer my prayers
