| Practical Magick II House Blessing- Use when you move into a new home or any time you wish to refresh the energy of your home. Take a prepared smudge bundle, a shell or smudge bowl and a large feather for wafting the smoke . Starting at the top of the house (if 2 or more floors) in the room which faces East: Light the smudge bundle and begin to waft the smoke towards the ceiling, using your feather in a sweeping motion. Smudge all the walls being careful to get the corners of the room. Smudge over the windows and doorways as well. As you smudge say "Pureness of air, strength of fire, bless this room and remove the mire." When you have finished with one room open the window in that room to let negative energy out and pure energy in. Repeat in each room of the house ending at the front door. Brush all of the negativity out the front door and close it behind you. Dream Pillows- For enhancing your dream work Take a bit of horehound, mugwort, rose petals, lemon blam, passionflower, lavender flower, chamomile (not if you have hayfever!), valerian (A tiny pinch will do), two 3" x 5" rectangles of a nice, celestial fabric and some thread in a color you like. Blue works especially well. Assemble the pillow case, making sure to leave one end open so you may insert the herbs. Place all the herbs inside, sew up tight, empower for dream work and place either inside or under your regular pillow. Sweet Dreams and Happy Traveling! Welsh Celtic Incantation to the Great Trees- For use any time, especially useful on the equinoxes Strength of Alder, Empower me! Knowledge of Ash, Enlighten me! Joy of vine, Fill my soul! Protectiveness of Reed, Keep me safe! Spirits of Elder, Converse with me! Fidelity of Ivy, Keep me True! Power of Oak, Make me strong! Fullness of Hawthorn, Give me Totality! Powers of Hazel, Assist me to Heal! Flying Ointment 1 ounces beeswax 1-2 ounces olive oil or almond oil 1/2 teaspoon clove oil 1/4 teaspoon dried cinquefoil 1/4 teaspoon dried mugwort 1/4 teaspoon dried thistle 1/4 teaspoon dried vervain 1/2 teaspoon tincture of benzoin Using a mortar and pestle, crush the dried herbs until almost powdered. In a small cauldron heat the beeswax over a very low flame until melted completely. Add the herbs, clove oil, and chimney soot to the lard base and mix well. Add the benzoin as a natural preservative, stir it all together clockwise, and then simmer for 10-15 minutes. Strain it through a cheesecloth into a small heat-resistant container, and then allow it to cool. Store it in your refrigerator or in a cool dark place until it is ready to be used. On a night of a full moon, anoint your temples and "Third Eye" with a small amount of the flying ointment prior to astral projection or dream magick. Honoring Household Spirits When presenting your house spirits with offerings of incense, candles or food you can say this little chant: "Spirits of the house, in harmony we live, To every spirit, my thanks I give. I am blessed you are here, to guide me throughout each year." Prophetic Dreams Place a moonstone beneath your pillow before retiring for the night. As you lay your head upon the pillow say: "As I sleep many visions come; From otherworlds all as one. With truth and clarity I will see, What before this night was hidden from me." |
