Orange (Citrus sinensis): Orange is fabulous for overcoming irritable moods, whether they're caused by stress, illness, menopause, PMS or overwork.  When added to a room spray or diffuser it works especially well for  providing a sense of calm and cheerfulness.  When your energy is low orange offers a quick pick me up & helps you regain focus.  For colds and flu it provides warmth and needed energy.  Children benefit from orange's fresh, homey smell.  They  often find it familiar and comforting, so it's good to use in their bath blends or room sprays.  Be careful not to get the undiluted oil on your skin though as it is very strong and will cause burning!  Perfect for oily skin it helps restore balance without drying things out.  A valuable addition to sleep blends it provides a sense of peace and tranquility.  Orange's scent is vibrant, fresh, sharp &  sweet.   Magickal uses:  Cleansing & clearing, enhances focus, dream work, raising power, solar rituals

Rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis): Rosemary is excellent for muscular problems including aches, strain, sprains & cramping.   It's stimulating properties make it a valuable addition to blends formulated for study, overcoming  mental fatigue & forgetfulness.  Added to shampoo blends it enhances luster & color, especially for dark hair.  It blends well with any of the other herbs and wood oils.  It has a high hydrogen content so helps improve circulation.  wonderful for those cold winter days and for people with circulatory problems.  when added to a diffuser or vaporizer it helps respiratory problems including allergies.  It's fragrence is strong, sharp, fresh & invigorating.  Rosemary should not be used by pregnant or nursing women, infants and small children.
Magickal uses:  Healing, love, meditation, focusing intent,  purification

Cedarwood (Cedrus atlantica): Cedar oil is a valuble additon to formulas for hair loss.  It increases circulation to the scalp, provides deep cleansing to the pores and stimulates new growth.  It helps restore balance to hair that is either too oily or too dry and rejuvenates damaged hair.  On an emotional level it provides stabilization and neutralizes anger, frustration, fear and aggression.  It's fragrance is rich, balsamic, woody and warm.  The inferior Atlas Cedar doesn't compare to Atlantica and should not be used.  Magickal uses:  purification, enhances higher consciousness, Divine attunement

Chamomile (Chamaemelum nobile):  Gentle, yet very effective, chamomile is a wonderful addition to any blend made for soothing.  Whether it's for soothing emotions, sunburns, bug bites or diaper rash, chamomile steps up and does the job well.  The German variety, also known as blue chamomile,  is a deep blue due to it's high azulene content.  Azulene is a common component in skin care blends, so use this one when formulating for soothing the body.  The Roman variety is yellow-green, showing it's capabilities for stimulating new growth.  Any time you wish to stimulate growth of the spirit, bodily cells or ventures use this one.  Both contain mild sedative properties so are fabulous in blends made for stress and trauma.  If you have hayfever, avoid chamomile all together as it may cause severe allergic reactions!  Wild chamomile is from a different botanical  family so is not completely interchangeable. However, it is much less expensive and will suit most needs. Any of the chamomile varieties are suitable for use with children.  Chamomile's scent is fresh, fuity and full bodied. Magickal uses:  prosperity work, meditation, peace work, initiating projects, spiritual growth

Clary Sage (Salvia sclarea): Clary sage is relaxing, uplifting, energizing, antiseptic and deodorizing.  Excellent for calming anxiety and stress & for releiving muscle cramps associated with menstruation or overwork.  A valuable addition to blends made for mature skin clary sage will help rejuvenate, tone and stimulate new cell growth.  Useful in study blends, especially if combined with one of the citrus oils like orange or lemon.  Added to a room spray it will eliminate even the most persistent odors like fish, tobacco smoke or sick room smell.  It's scent is earthy, grass-like, and somewhat musky.  If you love the smell of new mown hay then this one is for you!  Magickal uses: meditation, raising power, banishing, new ventures
