Shamanism

Wicca and shamanism as many people think are not so different from each other. They are actually brother and sister to each other. Both paths are the path of Light and in both the power is used for healing and helping. Both paths are as old as the Power itself. But there are still differences between them. What kind? Actually, this is the very interesting part.
Shamanism is a way of looking at the world and at yourself. There are no hard set rules, no hierarchy to try and work through. Shamanism is a time-tested practice, what works is kept, what doesn't is left behind. It is a personal quest for knowledge and inner power. On their paths they are lead by guides, that are not necessary humans, but can be also animal spirits, as well as beings from the "other world", which can teach them as much as human guides. They find a balance within the every living connection, like trees, humans, animals as well as rocks and the wind.
Within the long period of time, shamans have been mediators, ceremonialists, healers, diviners, many different kinds of artists and much more.
People become shamans after deciding, that this is the path for them, by being chosen by a shaman or by the near-death experience. That doesn't mean, that you will go out and try to kill yourself for becoming a shaman. No... If you are interested in shamanism, get as many books on this topic, and start to learn. Or, if this is no good for you, you may seek a teacher, which can teach you this path. But, this path, as well as other paths (e.g. Wicca) will take time, that you will learn it. Don't give up in the very first obstacle...
