Last February 19-20, 2004, the USTHS celebrated its 76th year! Now, the term high school week was changed into high school days. Obviously, instead of students rejoicing for a whole week this was transformed to just two days. It is because the graduating students cannot afford to miss more school days since they have merely a month to finish their Fourth Quarter. In spite of this minimal time, high school students still enjoyed their two-day rest. There were no lectures, assignments, quizzes, and all those stressful schoolwork for two consecutive days. The students were free to roam around the building and at least forget their heavy loads. But aside from having no classes the students enjoyed the High School Days because of the booths that was sponsored by different clubs. The Jail Booth by the Girl Scouts of the Philippines and Boy Scouts of the Philippines sure gave the chance for the students to take revenge to their enemies or just make fun of friends. The Dedication Booth by the English Forum helped the students to give some inspirational messages to friends, crushes or loved ones. It was like a real radio program that was tuned all over the High School building through the PA. And if you don't want the whole High School to hear your message then you could ask the Singing Telegram by the Music Society. Aside from giving dedication they will sing your chosen song for your chosen person live. There is also the Kissing Booth that gives you kiss marks for fun. Many students supported the first Marriage Booth by the Student Catholic Action. It was one thing young people enjoyed. You would see bunch of students cheering and yelling for their classmates that would be married. The Math Club also introduced a new booth, which is the Shot Your Crush Booth. This fulfilled the dreams of students of having a picture of their crushes inside the campus. With the help of the Math Club you would have the picture of your crush without him even knowing you had one. So much about love and crushes, the Readers' Club made a different project. They held a book fair inside the building. They sold books at really low prices. From a thousand to just one hundred fifty pesos, it sure made all the book lovers enjoy the High School Days. On other hand the Student Council held a fund raising activity called "Ukay Buhay". With the help of the students they sold clothes, bags, shoes and toys for really affordable prices from 1 peso-fifty pesos. The income of this project will be use for community service. Aside from helping other people it also benefited the buyers for low prices of items. So even though High School Week was celebrated for two days, it succeeded in making the students worthy of the time that was given for them to enjoy. There were many things that could be done with this short span of time but still having fun. This year may be different from the past years but it still gave the students the chance to take a break and celebrate their High School Days. |
