I'm sure many of you out there are starting off reading these fanfictions and are completely confused. The first few fanfictions were not done very seriously and we no longer consider those the true story of how Hades and Hera met. So, here is an explanation of their entire history leading up to the present.

Yes, there was a dinner party. And yes, Hades and Hera were both there, but Hera certainly was not drinking (that is completely unlike her character!).

However, Zeus had been; Hades and Hera somehow got to mingling casually at the dinner party, possibly just a polite exchange of small talk, but Zeus had a bone to pick with his wife about associating with their traitor of a brother. So, he butted into the conversation and led Hera away into a bedroom. Hades followed out of curiousity, and was outraged to see that Zeus and Hera's argument had come to Zeus slapping Hera across the face. Hades, who (despite his bad reputation) has never been a womanizer, quickly jumped into action and beat Zeus up, to put it simply.

Hera, who had never had anyone stand up for her like that before (most of the Olympians were intimidated by Zeus), was practically swept off her feet. She quickly located Hades the next day to thank him, and the two managed to grow closer and closer.

At some point, Hera decided she had suffered enough abuse from her husband and felt courageous enough to finally divorce him to be with Hades (this is months after they met). In time, Hades had learned of her unhappy marriage with Zeus, which only happened after he took advantage of her. He treated her more like a possession than a wife, and when he lost his temper, he would occasionally resort to hitting her. Hera, in turn, learned of Hades' past...how he had defeated Cronus and earned Olympus, but his brothers had gone behind his back and left him with the underworld, which had made him into a bitter and vengeful person.

Hera did divorce Zeus, and sacrificed her queenship and Olympus to live with Hades in the underworld. However, they soon had a falling out when Hades used her to try and get Olympus, and they separated temporarily, and Hera returned to Olympus. During this time, Hera found out she was pregnant and was advised by Apollo to say the baby's father was Zeus, to keep anyone from treating it badly. Hera did just that. Her daughter Hebe (goddess of youth) was born, and soon afterwards she ended up with Hades again.

A few years later, Hera became pregnant again, and this time she decided it was time to tell Hades that Hebe was his daughter. At the same time, she also announced she was pregnant with the couple's second child, who turned out to be a daughter named Eris (goddess of chaos). At this point, Hades and Hera decided to get married and settle down for good.

A short time after that, Hera became pregnant a third time, but this pregnancy proved the most difficult as Hades' lack of life-creating power was becoming stronger than Hera's life-creating qualities. Thus, Hera gave birth to the couple's son, Thanatos (god of death), who would be their last child.

Now, fast forward YEARS later, when the three children are in their 20's.

Hebe comes by one day to announce that she is pregnant with her first child, though she is unmarried and will not reveal who the father is. Hades, of course, is angered, but he is absolutely unfuriated to discover that the father of Hebe's child is none other than Hercules, his former arch nemesis. Ironic, eh? Of course, being the supportive father he is, Hades TRIES to cope with the fact. Hebe and Herc get married just before the birth of their twin sons, Alexiares and Anicetus.

In the meantime, Thanatos has found love with another ironic person; Persephone, Hades' first love. The two get married and, well, start bearing children. LOTS of children. The first are twins Erebus and Nyx, then twins Nemesis and Apate, then twins Hemera and Aether, and triplets Moros, Momus and Ponos, and lastly triplets Philotes, Hypnos and Geras. That's twelve children, therefore Hades has fourteen grandchildren altogether.

And that, my friends, is where the story is at this point. So please continue reading the fanfictions, and thank you for your support thus far. :)
