leaving france is always sad, so to make it a little easier we try to fit in one last interesting activity. mostly we end up in paris, but this time i wanted to go back to the house of 'picassiette', where i had been in the early 60's, when the artist was still alive. i was very curious to see if it was still there.
Raymond Isidore covered his whole house, his shed and little garden with mosaics made of bits of broken crockery he would find everywhere. the result is stunning and a beautiful example of what is now called 'l'art brut'. luckily, the city of chartres has realised its uniqueness and they now take good care of 'la maison de picassiette'.
two other open air 'art brut' sites in france are 'le chateau du facteur cheval' and 'le manege de petit pierre'. all are well documented on the internet.
