The town of Cadiz is famous for its old center and for its Carnival. We had already heard samples of this Cadiz Carnival music at a little fisherman's cafe in the harbour of Barbate and it was so wild and out of this world we wanted to get it on a CD. It turned out that the music shop in Cadiz had thousands of CD's of the carnival, so which one should we get? Finally we just picked two and hoped for the best.
In the narrow streets of Cadiz, our guidebook said, you can't get lost because you can see the sea on every corner. We got totally lost however, and spent hours finding back the car. The town was deserted at 3 pm, when we arrived, but when we left around 9.30 it was bustling with life.
Back at the hotel, a flamenco show for tourists. Nothing as wild as the music we heard, and our boys were not very impressed. They greatly preferred the bikini fashion show around the pool the next morning.
Meanwhile, back home, our friends from Paris took wonderful care of the house, the plants and especially the cats. Or rather, our French cat, who normally is very shy. Is it because Jean-Michel and Yasmina's daughters called him sweet names in his own language?
