| Cadets will be awarded merits for outstanding performance, appearance, and time spent on special projects or events. Cadets whose performance or conduct do not meet the basic standards of the unit will be assessed demerits. Merits and demerits are recorded on permanent cadet records and serve as an indicator of discipline and performance. Five (5) merits will raise the overall JROTC grade point average for each six-weeks in earning merits or demerits. Merits off-set demerits. Conversely, five (5) demerits will lower the grade by by one (1) point. The JROTC instructors are the only persons who can assess demerits or award merits. However, school faculty members, cadet officers, and cadet NCO's can recommend cadets for merits and/or demerits. The cadet adjutant will post a merit/demerit list each week on the bulletin board. |
