| COURTESY AND CONDUCT | ||||||
| The development of respect for others and for constituted authority are desired goals of the JROTC program. These goals are achieved by the adoption of a high standard of personal conduct. At Hephzibah High School, the following courtesies will be used to augment normal good manners: A. SALUTING: When in uniform, not while wearing civilian clothing, all JROTC cadets will salute the Senior Army Instructor, visiting officers, and cadet commissioned officers. Cadets are required to salute or exchange salutes only while in the JROTC area. All cadets in the JROTC program will salute the SAI at all times when they are in uniform, anytime they see the SAI anywhere on school grounds except indoors. SALUTING INDOORS IS NOT REQUIRED. B. CADET RELATIONSHIPS: Cadet Officer and NCO's will be addressed by their rank and last names only. Over-familiarity (Fraternization) between officers and other cadets will not be tolerated. Violations to this policy will result in reduction in rank and other appropriate discipline as needed. C. CLASS DECORUM: Cadets will rise when the JROTC instructors enter the classroom. At the beginning of each class, the class leader will report the class present to the instructor. When called upon in class or recognized by an instructor when asking a question, the cadet will stand and remain standing until the conversation is terminated by the instructor. D. Cadets will conduct themselves as cadets at all times. Improper wearing to the uniform, i.e., jackets open, ties loose, shirts unbuttoned, etc., horseplay, talking when not allowed, other activities that disrupt the class will not be tolerated. This is required and expected in all classes at Hephzibah High School, not just while in JROTC. E. When the National Anthem is played outdoors cadets will stand at attention and render the hand salute when in uniform. When indoors cadets will stand at attention and face the music. No salute will be rendered even when in uniform. F. When the pledge to the Flag is given outdoors cadets will stand at attention and render the Hand Salute when in uniform. Indoors cadets will stand at attention when in uniform but no salute will be rendered. When not in uniform, cadet will stand at attention during the pledge. G. When walking with a commissioned officer, cadets will walk to the left and one step to the rear of the officer. H. When acting as a guide for a commissioned officer, the cadet will walk to the right of the officer and one step in front. |
