The Eagle Feather

This be the story as it happened in about a five to ten minute period one morning
fishing on the river.

Ben and Heather are trolling down river from the camp. Ben starts thinking about Jesse and what he has been through in the last few years. A young Bald Eagle perches in a tree up river along the shoreline. Ben thinks it would be neat to find and send Jesse an "eagle feather" for doing well at getting through prison and halfway house etc. Ben starts searching the shore line
in hopes of maybe spotting a new nest in the area where he scored the feather last year by a blown down nest. The young eagle still watching us and the river.

Ben looking around digging in cooler when he sees something float down past the boat. We reel in the lines and go down river,come back up, Heather tries to scoop the small brown and white feather three times unsucessfully, Ben attempts and gets the feather first time. The feather obviously wasn't meant for Heather thats why she couldn't retrieve it. They inspect the feather for spots and eagle characteristics, determine it is indeed a young small feather of an eagle.

Ben and Heather check out young eagle still watching the show on the river. Eagle looks down and nods his head at them then flies up river where he joins 5 other eagles all in view from the boat. Ben gets excited, weird, tingleing feelings and they back to camp thankful of a neat experience.

True and moving story. Heather built feather into a medicine wheel for our beloved Jesse. Medicine bag has contents that consist of tobacco, sage, sweetgrass and cedar. These are the 4 most important and potent medicines used in ceremonies, and for smudging.
