This is a ending spoiler/patch/review file for the Windows adult anime game "X-Change" from Peach Princess. This is their first English translation, the original game was in Japanese by Crowd Co. Ltd. (http://www.hs-crowd.co.jp/main.html); I don't have the Japanese one, but I dimly recall that good things were said about it. You can check the reviews at www.densetsu.com yourself. As the graphic of the game's title runs all the letters together to make the title "Xchange", but the Japanese version was consistently referred to as "X-Change" and the English one uses "X-Change" too, I'll use "Xchange" as an alternate. I just received the English release in the mail (on 12 March 2001) after placing a pre-order with JAST USA at the beginning of February 2001. I figured out a photoshop patch pretty quickly, and got some help figuring out the multiple game endings from a guy who posted at the Peach Princess site's BBS. Li Sun says: nothing yet! English version requires Windows 9x or better. System requirements on the box or in the README file. Has an Autorun program (more on this below) for setup and play. Note that if you install the game to some directory besides the default, the Autorun program will not be able to start the game; you'll have to use the link that the installer puts on your desktop, or the links put in your Start menu in the Peach Princess group. Mouse optional but highly recommended; keyboard possible but I can't confirm using it. Uses 640*480 16-bit graphics. Sound unknown; 8 audio files of unknown format on CD for the music take up about 200 MB of the 265 MB on the disc. Very nice packaging! I like these DVD-style boxes better than the clear plastic CD ones. I strongly suggest you read the README file (available as an option on the Autorun menu) before installing and playing. Note that there is basically a working copy of Autorun Maestro by Pollen Software in the MAE directory of the CD-ROM. But it won't run from there on the CD. As with the JAST USA products already released in English, there are some directories with game images on the CD. Invoke the "Browse the CD" option on the Autorun menu, then look in the "Image Archive" directories with a JPG viewer. Note that "Little My Maid" is mentioned as being the first of a series, but there are no notes on the X-Change or Tokimeki Check-In images about those games. I don't know why there are 0-byte "ICON_" files in most of the CD's directories, but they don't seem to hurt anything. The file XCHANGE.TXT in the "X-Change Files" directory is in Japanese. Contents are apparently system requirements and other information about the Japanese version of the game. Requires the CD in the drive while playing? (The README file warns you not to take it out and put it back in while playing.) The main menu seems self-explanatory to me. But the Music mode (jukebox) option could use some documentation: only the 1 through 8 buttons, the 4 arrow buttons to the right of them, and the 2 Exit areas do anything on this screen. The "equalizer" display is just random lights, although they're synchronized to the tempo of the musical selection. If you leave the game at the main menu for about 20 seconds, it will show you "bio" screens for 5 of the characters. While playing, the "Data Format" button will wipe out ALL your saved games and H images seen status when you press "Yes". DO NOT PRESS THIS BUTTON UNLESS YOU WANT TO START ALL OVER AGAIN! The H images that you see while playing the game are immediately available in the CG Mode (the game's photoshop). Unfortunately, for some reason this doesn't include the very first shot of Tatsuya with breasts, when Tatsuya first exposes "herself" to Asuka or the parents, when Tatsuya is shown as an overlay in a room while topless, etc. That's too bad, but with 10 saved games, and a simple "high speed" mode, it's easy to get to those if you really want to see them again. After playing the game for a while, I finally noticed a few glitches in the translation. Most of these appeared as places where there was literally a "***" in the text. I'm guessing the translator intended to go back and fix these, and forgot. Only a few other minor errors were noted besides those. ENDINGS: (thanks to Doug (lodossknight[AT}juno{DOT).com) for a lot of this) #1: For both #1 and #2 endings, have to pick a certain sequence of choices: Miyagi when feeling sick (or you'll get to one of the other endings before you make all the choices that get you to this one); "restrain yourself" with Satoh; "apologize" to Miyagi; just don't "cry out for help" with Seiji; "go to chemistry room"; "red medicine"; and finally "Don't choose Satoh". This will get you Asuka, with a credits sequence after the sex. You have to click the mouse to exit the Peach Princess/Crowd screen and see a final sequence. #2: Follow the ending #1 choices, except "Choose Satoh" at the very end, instead of "Don't choose Satoh". This will get you Asami Satoh, with a credits sequence after the sex, just like Asuka's but with a different image. You have to click the mouse to exit the Peach Princess/Crowd screen and see a final sequence. The rest seem to be considered "unhappy" endings to the game, since there are no credits shown, and Tatsuya doesn't change back to being a male in any of them. #3: "She-Male" with Satoh. Two ways to get this: a. First, must choose Miyagi when feeling sick (or you'll get to one of the other endings before you make all the choices that get you to this one). When Satoh examines naked Tatsuya, you get the choice: "restrain yourself" / "go for it". "go for it" gets you 5 H pix with Satoh. Avoid the Seiji ending, and later choose "go to chemistry". Satoh will have a green potion to try that turns Tatsuya into a "she-male". b. Even if you "restrain yourself", avoid the Seiji ending (#7), and go to the chemistry room, Satoh will have a red and a green medicine to choose from. Pick the green one to get ending #3 a slightly different way. #4: 3-on-1 forever. When feeling sick, choose to go to Miyagi. If you choose "agree to model" (instead of "apologize") or "go to art room" (instead of "go to chemistry room"), you'll get this ending. #5: Terada's Woman. When feeling sick, choose to go to Terada. You'll get to an ending with him regardless of further choices. #6: Too much fun. When feeling sick, choose to go to Nurse. You'll get to this ending the next day regardless of further choices. #7: Two-timing with Seiji. At end of 3rd day, choose "don't go to sister's room", then "cry out". This appears to be all the endings. Getting all of them, as well as going through the "one more time" optional sequence, and then both the "go to sister's room" and "don't go to sister's room" + "give up and endure" sequences, will get you 100% CG seen. I'm pretty sure "one more time" and "go to sister's room" don't change any of the endings, although Doug said you needed to pick "enough for today" and "give up and endure" to get to endings #1 or #2. The saved game data and the H image status are stored in the file C:\WINDOWS\XCHANGE.DAT, length 4620 ($120C) bytes. The saved games are near the beginning, the H image status near the end of the file. To turn on all the H images (CG 100%), use a binary file editor to change bytes $1168 through $11B7 (80 or $50 bytes) all to $01. There certainly are a lot of H images (while the case says "hundreds", that must be counting stuff that's not in the photoshop), and the translation is pretty good. The interface could have been documented better, and some of the screen is never used for displaying text, yet you can tell that sometimes there's not enough room to fit everything. Some people may miss the lack of sound effects or voice, and think the graphics are too "simple", but the story is rather original and the de-censorship well-done. I'd call this an excellent first effort by Peach Princess, worth what I paid, and I'm looking forward to not only finishing this game but the next 3 titles as well (when they arrive; did you pre-order them?). If you have anything to add to this file, let me know. Peter Karsanow - bishoujo.helper[AT}sbcglobal{DOT)net http://www.geocities.com/hentaihelper/
